Although there will be some pain, it is important to maintain arm motion to prevent shoulder and elbow stiffness. Pain medication, including acetaminophen, can help relieve pain as the fracture heals. In this procedure, bone is taken from another part of the body. In such cases, a bone graft may be necessary. Sometimes, bone may be missing or be so severely crushed that it cannot be repaired.
